This restaurant enjoys an excellent position in Coulon on the banks of La Sevre Niortaise.  On a beautiful sunny day in May we were able to enjoy our meal in their pleasant garden.  They offered 2 courses for 18euros 90 at lunchtime – 24 euros for three courses in the evenings.  Their was a good choice of starters and main courses including a number of house made specialities for starters.  I went for the house made foie gras with a pineau chutney which was excellent and generous, while my husband opted for thinly cut jambon also generously presented.

Our main course options were for me a zander fillet with a selection of vegetables nicely combined with a tasty sauce while my husband had the duo of lamb – a chop and a kebab along with a kidney, sauteed potatoes and a small pot of haricot beans. As far as he knows he doesn’t even like kidneys but this one he enjoyed! It was refreshing to see that the accompaniments to the main courses were tailored to fit.

I really couldn’t fault my meal and the only negative my partner could find was that the potatoes could have been crisper but overall this was a very good meal indeed and comes highly recommended.  The service was efficient and freindly and at 58 euros for the meal with a fine bottle of Haut Poitou Sauvignon and a good coffee it represented good value.
