Open Lundi soir au Samedi soir
A good choice for lunch if you happen to be in the shopping district of Angouleme at the right time but either go early or book as it fills up very quickly after 12.30! The restaurant offers 3 menus at ascending cost, a daily special and quite a large a la carte menu so there is plenty of choice. We both opted for the cheapest menu at 19 euros which offered two choices over three courses. We were served with a tasty little glass of carrot soup as an amuse bouche followed by the starter which was a very generous portion of beef carpaccio which was excellent and topped with a crisp well dressed salad. This was followed by salmon parmentier -essentially a well flavoured salmon fish pie- and to finish I had a very good nougat glace – all in all a very satisfying meal. As stated the restaurant was completely full by 1.00 and everything which went past us being served at the other tables looked tempting. The ambience is lively – interestingly the tables are made out of wood on a scaffolding base- and the service very efficient and friendly. Three courses a bottle of good wine and coffee was under 60 euros which at the present exchange rate was good value. This was our second visit and we would go again.
