Plants and Animals in Poitou-Charentes

Fat dormice sometimes hibernate in the house

We live in a tiny hamlet and so are surrounded by countryside. The garden is smallish but has two other bigger gardens for neighbours with some fairly old and established trees and then behind it is a small wood. In front it is farmland, mostly arable so we have good opportunities for all sorts of creatures big and small.

I am gradually building up an archive of wildlife photos from this region have started to classify them so you can use them as an identification aid, or you may just like to look at the photos.

For birds click on GARDEN BIRDS

  1. Wow, I really like these shots! Particularly those of the insects, the butterfly especially. Beautiful detail. I think your closeups are lovely. 🙂
