Coulon is on the banks of the Sevre Niortaise in an area known as La Venise Vert, because its like Venice only green!. It is a great place for a day out, possibly at its best when it is not the height of the tourist season although if that is when you are here then that is when it has to be.

Most people take a boat (barque) and spend some time on the water. We did that and some photos of our boat trip are in another post entitiled Marais Poitevin. It is also nice to just wander about and take a meal or enjoy a few beers and watch the world go by.

I can recomend the Quai Sud for a meal but there are plenty of restaurants to choose from.

Here is a slide show to give you a flavour of the place.
